Montégut to Giscaro, 30.6 km

The first two hours, before the sun became blazingly hot, was exclusively on forest paths – a great start to the day, capped off by arriving in a tiny hamlet where the owner of the auberge (in this instance, a country restaurant) was sitting outside so I asked if she was open for coffee. Finally a mid morning coffee stop, and a really good coffee at that!

The day’s other memorable moment was the result of a detour off the marked path. I ventured into the town of Gimont to provision for lunch+dinner+breakfast and found a very old covered market in the town square. Today it’s given over to a couple of restaurants and the inevitable car parking, but I’ve never seen anything like it before. It didn’t really lend itself to a photo, but you’ll get the gist from this snaps:

Tonight I’m staying at “The Grange”, a kind of hobby farm and albergue combined. The hosts are fantastic, as is the main building. They have records of the property being sold in 1650, so who knows how old the place really is!

Lastly on the roll of daily film, is what I thought was a small snake, but turned out to be just an earthworm!
