Camino del Estrecho days 3 & 4. Rest days in Tangier!

When it’s only 1 hour by ferry, it’s hard to pass up the opportunity of spending our 31st wedding anniversary in Tangier. We’ve had a marvelous two days, relaxing at Pierre’s fantastic rooftop Airbnb, wandering the alleys of the medina, and sampling Moroccan food/mint tea/coffee etc. We booked a guide the first day, who gave us an informative walking tour, including pastry and tea stops, and the inevitable carpet showroom 😄. I don’t think they understood our reluctance to buy one, as peregrinos walking with backpacks is not their usual target market.

Tangier is great. At no time did we feel unsafe, despite heading out of the usual tourist area, and the hustlers were less assertive than expected – although it is a city where everyone wants to be your tour guide! Generally, if you are polite, they will be equally polite (funny how that works).

Here’s a selection of pics:

Tangine – traditional (and delicious) Moroccan stew. The fries….. not quite so traditional.
Anniversary lunch at an authentic and frantically busy Moroccan restaurant. They don’t often get tourists here!
