Via Tolosana day 13: all that jazz

Maubourguet to Marciac, 18.5 km

The mountains were, sadly,  mostly at my back.

With a modest distance to cover, and it being a stat holiday, I was in no rush to vacate my modest cabin in the Maubourguet campsite. The path was not that inspiring today, but having been raised on a farm, there is always something of interest at the farms you pass by.

Church with a commanding view

The yellow crop is, I believe, mustard. I passed close by several fields, and they were humming with bees – making honey dijon no doubt. I’m staying tonight in the town of Marciac, which has held a highly regarded jazz festival for the past 40 years. Sting is one of the headlining acts at this year’s edition in late July. It’s a good thing all the stores were closed as the merch looked great. It saves me carrying yet another piece of excess weight! https://www.jazzinmarciac.com/

The St Jacques tower where I was going to be staying tonight. I’m in the main building instead as it’s not ready for the season. I had a good snoop around though!

  1. I was wondering if you would get mobbed if you were there while Sting was in town…. Don’t chance it! The honey Dijon was a better pun than bees and Sting.
    Good call. MCK
