La Salvetat sur Agout to Murat sur Vèbre, 22.5 km

It was a very pleasant day walking: not too hot, not too cold; not too far but just far enough; not too steep and not too flat. As the heading says, it was a Goldilocks kind of day. Arrival time was supposed to be at 1500H, but even with a later start, a slower pace, and longer stops I still arrived a bit early. It didn’t seem to put the hosts off too much.
This morning I had breakfast with Nettie from Holland, who was also staying in the gîte. She started this Camino last year, but the heat and the hard days at the start put her off, so she’s back to continue the journey. She had a frustrating day yesterday as she is using the German guide book as her only source of information, and the maps in it are woefully ok inadequate for navigation. It does have text turn-by-turn guidance, but that is of little help if you’ve already made a wrong turn. I convinced her to download the Gronze app, and then gave her a tutorial on using it. When she set off she seemed much more confident of the day ahead.
Tonight I’m sharing a small private gîte with a Dutch couple and a German couple. The small municipal gîte is full, so I’m now crossing paths with those who started in Arles at the beginning of April. Lots of information is being shared! I’ve been booking accommodation ahead, but clearly I need to book all the way to Arles to make sure I have somewhere to sleep in the coming days!
